    When out in public, there won’t be any place for an outfit change. But if you  dress in layers, you have options that are just as good as an outfit change. Just add a cute jacket or button-down or take one off, and you have yourself a new look.

    What to Wear: Head Shots

    So you want to put your best foot forward in your head shot. This is the image that’s going to sell you with one glance.

    • Wear clothes that are appropriate for your profession
    • Have contrast between your skin color and clothing; fair-skinned people shouldn’t wear white exclusively.
    • A person with fair complexion will typically look best in blue, green or black
    • A person with medium skin complexion, will probably look best in colors like red, gold, forest green, cream, brown, and purple
    • A person with dark skin complexion can wear almost any color, but professional headshots will look better with at least one light-colored piece of clothing for contrast

    • May distract from your face and facial expressions
    • May not be flattering to all body types
    • May cause unwanted and hard-to-remove color reflections on skin (neon and non-white colors)

    • Has a perceived slimming effect for all body types
    • Emphasizes your face and expressions

    • May not reflect your personality
    • May blend into the background (photographers can get around this)
